Those Before Us

NYC-based artist collective Rebis presented Those Before Us, an audio immersive dance experience on Governors Island. The experience is a time machine that brings history to life through sound, storytelling, and movement.
Designed for public spaces, audience participants use smartphones and headphones or Bose AR sunglasses that pair historic locations with multiple audio-narrations that shed light on events that took place or could have existed in each location. The audience had freedom and autonomy to switch between distinct narratives across different time periods.
